A dry white wine from the Moscato Bianco, a Moscato Reale variety from the surroundings of Maschito in Basilicata. It was clearly understood that we were delighted by red Aglianico, but the Biancospino (Italian for hawthorn) was a complete surprise to us. We haven’t  long drunk such aromatic Moscato, in addition made as a ‘’secco’’ or dry wine. The aroma of ripe white grapes and equally ripe orange growing under southern sun can delight everybody, almost brilliant color encourages to taste endlessly. Stunning, especially for lovers of moderate dry wines, and certainly for ladies.

The vineyards are located in the vicinity of the Ionic Sea, in the sandy soils alternating with the calcareous ones. It is a small area of land, where every work is done manually. The summer here is very hot and dry, with quite big day and night temperature differences, thanks to these factors the grapes contain a big potential of organic compounds – polyphenols. The presence of the sea makes the vine trees breath with salty air scenting of the Mediterranean Maquis. All these unique aromas are also present in the wine. The harvest is done early, until the middle of August, the wine after a short period of maturing in stainless steel ages for a few months in wood. Also “Mare” was awarded a gold medal in the competition Berliner Wine Trophy 2014 and received an award in Vinitaly 2014.
