Informations about region

Piemonte, one of the largest wine regions of Italy situated in the northwest part of the country, with an area of 23 399 km². Its landforms consist of plains (24,4%), hills (30,3%), and mountainous areas (43,3%) – the mountain ranges of the Alps in the highest parts more than 4000 metres high, Monte Rosa and Gran Paradiso.

This unique position and two big rivers flowing through Piemonte – Pad and Tanaro provide excellent conditions for grape growing, and due to big temperature differences grapes accumulate aroma compounds.

The ancient Greeks reaching the Ligurian ports apart from the amphors full of wine, brought with them cuttings of grapes and began wine cultivation on the inland areas. After the fall of the Roman Empire and the invasions of barbarians wine cultivation developed all the time. Since the Middle Ages the city of Asti has been widely known for its good and fine wines. There was the first mention about Nebbiolo - the most famous grape of this region.

A dry red wine from the autochthonous Freisa variety of Piedmont. In the dialect freisa means freesia, or flower, characterized by purple - red color. Hence the wine was named after its colour. The mentions about this grape variety date back to the late XIX-th century, then the wine obtained from the Freisa grape was already well-known and apprieciated, especially in Piedmont. Freisa from our producer was aged in wooden barrels, next was subjected to the short fermentation process in a big tank called ‘autoclave‘ . Hence Freisa is characterized by a slightly sparkling flavor and freshness. This wine is an excellent companion to grassy meats and charcuterie. Freisa of the Langhe region is a dry wine as opposed to Freisa of the Monferrato zone.

A dry red wine of Piedmont‘s native grape, Ruché. This grape is present only in the surroundings of seven towns of the Monferrato zone, among which Castagnole and Portacomaro. Probably the variety was introduced here by friars already in the Middle Ages and planted around a monastery of Saint Rocco, which doesn‘t exist any longer, hence the name. The name of the wine, Na Vota, in the piedmontese dialect signifying the beginnings or a challenge. The year 1990 was a challenge for the Cavallero brothers, because their Ruché was harvested for the first time. If there are unique wines that can‘t be made elsewhere than its own, proper territory, Ruché is certainly among them. This wine is made from a selection of grapes derived from four Cantine‘s vineyards. Depending on quality every year the yields from certain vineyards are different. Chalky soils are ideal for growing of this aromatic variety. The entire process of fermentation and ageing is given only in stainless steel tanks, therefore this wine maintains its unique aroma and freshness.

A dry red wine of Piedmont‘s native grape, Grignolino. It‘s one of interesting wines of Piedmont, however a lesser known and scarcely appreciated by wine connoisseurs (apart from declared fans of Piedmont). Pity because Grignolino is an extremely delicious wine. It combines the delicateness of colour and aromas with the richness of structure, goes well with many dishes, from cured meats, through white meats, even up to fish. As the variety is hard to grown not every year it is possible to transform grapes into wine. The classic zone of its cultivation is in the surroundings of the town of Portacomaro. Miravalle with sandy soils belongs to its subzones and yields excellent quality grapes of Grignolino. An unoaked, great, little wine, delighting by the simplicity of varietal.
Color: light ruby red with orange reflections.
Aroma: delicate, notes of rose, cherry, pomegranate.
Flavor: delicate, elegant, with notes of almond in the finish.

A dry red wine made from native Piedmont grape Nebbiolo, from Lampia and Michet varieties. These two different types of soils, on which the vineyards are situated, have an impact on the wine that is produced. Barolo del Comune di Barolo is a wine with great balance and harmony, fresh and with a beautiful aroma, powerful and with great potential. It can be freely drunk two or three years after bottling, you will be surprised by its charm. Aged for 18 months in French oak 500-litres casks.
