Veneto (Venice), a wine region belonging to the leading producers of wine, particularly white wines.

Its area is 18 364 km2 and largely is a plain. Historically, the Veneto produces the most wine as much as 20% of national production.

In the twentieth century, phylloxera (vine disease) ravaged almost all vineyards, therefore were introduced the grape varieties of French origin such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon or Cabernet Franc. Fortunately, survived some indigenous grape types that today are dominating. The most famous of these is the Prosecco from which is made the wine called with the same name, though the proper name of the grape variety is glera. The best production area of Prosecco is situated in the environs of Treviso, precisely in the Conegliano - Valdobbiadene zone including the Cartizze and Colli Asolani subzones. Sparkling wines are very popular in Italy alone but also among the international clientele, while Prosecco is one of the most recognizable among sparkling types of wine.

White wines, matching best with regional cuisine based on fish and seafood fished in the Adriatic Sea, are characterized by tenderness, freshness and lightness. This type of wine is obtained from indigenous grape varieties like Fiulano Tokai (now fiulano) or Garganega (a famous wine from the Soave zone called with the same name) and many other international grapes well naturalized in the prevailing climate here: Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio.

The typical red wines of the region are Valpolicella and Bardolino. Both varieties are made from the same native grapes: Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella. The grapes are cultivated in the Classical zone near Verona and in the Superiore version are distinguished by a fruity bouquet and good structure. The flagship wine of the region undoubtedly is Amarone della Valpolicella , whose popularity in recent years has greatly increased. This unique wine is made from grapes subjected to the drying process (so-called appassimento). After harvesting grapes are placed on special racks and left for several months to concentrate a higher sugar content. Then they undergo the process of vinification and long aging, first in oak barrels and then in bottle. The name of the Amarone wine derives from the Italian word amaro and means bitter. Due to the unique winemaking process this wine has indeed a rich, almost pomegranate color, rich texture and structure and is characterized by a slightly bitter but soft and pleasant note. It is worth mentioning that the method of obtaining this noble drink has not changed over the centuries. According to the existing historical records its origins date back to the fourth century after Christ.

Veneto does not only mean wine but also excellent olive oil. Its favorable mild climate provides the suitable conditions for the growth of olive trees here. The production area, particularly known for the quality of extravergine olive oil is situated in the coast of Lake Garda. The olive oil produced here belongs to the category DOP - Denominazione di Origine Protetta-Protected Designation of Origin.

Sweet white wine, a passito version or obtained from dried grapes. The harvest of very ripe grapes of Incrocio Manzoni is done in the middle of September. Next the grapes are stored on wooden racks in special air-ventilated rooms. This way they lose about 30% of initial weight to accumulate sugars and aromas. The vinification done only in December results in a wine distinguished by natural sweetness and unique bouquet. The name „Pensiero d’amore” is Italian for „a gift of love” or “love thoughts”. When creating this wine the idea of Ornelia and her family was to make a gift for their friends and relatives, she wanted to appreciate them this way. It’s the only wine of this kind in the range of Ornelia Belia.

Dry white wine with native Veneto grape Garganega. Originating from hilly vineyards situated in morenic soil around Verona in the Veneto region, Garganega is an example of an original native wine with a fairly strong structure and interesting aroma notes. With moderate acidity, the wine does well exactly in this part of Italy, in the provinces of Verona, Vicenza, Padua. A dry red wine from the native Tuscan grape Sangiovese. The Riserva vintage, 2011, made from the grapes originating from a small 2ha vineyard cultivated only with Sangiovese. A unique terroir makes the wine extremely soft and fresh. In addition, the organic wine certificate guarantees natural merits of Riserva from the Chianti Colli Fiorentini subzone. Aged for almost one year in 2500 litre oak casks, great structure and rich aromas, but above all fresh and fruity notes of Sangiovese.

Aroma: intense, long lasting, fruity and floral notes with hints of spices.

Valtellina Superiore Sassella Riserva

A dry red wine of Nebbiolo grape. This is a riserva of the Superiore version obtained from th ebest vineyards located at an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level. Structured red wine obtained from the vinification of grapes by the most renowned of the 4 sub-areas of Valtellina Superiore. It is produced only in the best years. Manual harvest, the first week of October.At the end of a slow maceration, it matures for almost two years inSlavonian oak barrels. After that, it refines in bottles in our cellars for at least 1 year before it can be sold.It presents characteristics of particular harmony after two or threeyears of refinement.

Color: ruby red.
Aroma: delicate with prevalence of fruity notes and hints of plum.
Flavor: particularly harmonic and velvety.
Food matching: Red meat, game and cheese.
Serving temperature: 16°/18° C.

Castello di Meleto

Chianti Classico Vigna Casi Riserva

A dry red wine of the autochthonous Sangiovese variety with an addition of Merlot. The name ‘Vigna Casi’ refers to a vineyard situated in the hills up to 450 meters. The indication ‘Riserva’ means the long ageing period of wine, which is used only for the best vintages. The 2005 vintage in Tuscany was good, thus the producer decided to make ‘Riserva’. The wine was aged in the proportion 50 to 50 in Slovenian oak barrels for 18 months and in French oak barriques (225l) for another 12 months, than was matured in bottle for another one year. Thanks to such a careful ageing process is crated a really great wine.

Colour: intense ruby red Aroma: fruity and floral notes of cherries, licorice, hyacinth, as derivatives of the aging tactile notes of vanilla, leather, tobacco, spices, soft tannins. Flavor: velvety, harmoniuous. Connecting to the food: meat-based dishes, including grilled meats, venison, cured cheese. Serving temperature 18° - 20 ° C. Alcohol content 13.5%

A dry white wine of Passerina, Abruzzo‘s native grape. An indigenous monovarietal wine from the zone Colli Aprutini, located in the province of Teramo, in the north of the region along the coast of the Adriatic sea. With goldish reflections Passerina is an extremely pleasant and soft wine that delights by its delicateness as well as good structure.

For enthusiasts of red wines it is an excellent accompaniment with most dishes, especially dishes with tomato sauce.
