Abruzzo a region with an area of 10 755 km², with the range of Appennines and the Adriatic coast. The major part of territory is dominated by mountains and hills. One of the region’s top attractions is the Gran Sasso, a part of Appennines with picturesque caves formed by erosion, belonging to a large natural park, third largest in Italy.

The vite in Abruzzo dominated in Roman times, over the centuries having its better and worse moments. Today, the wines from Abruzzo enjoy wide popularity all over the world. The region‘s most famous wine is Montepulciano, a red wine from the Montepulciano grape, ruby red, warm and with soft tannins. Second largest grown is the Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, a white grape variety, equally popular are Passerina, Pecorino, Malvasia and Cerasuolo, a pink variety of Montepulciano.

    A dry red wine of Montepulciano di Abruzzo grape. The documentary evidence of this variety dates from the XVIII century. Besides the Sangiovese it is one of the most popular red varieties in Central Italy. The Colline Teramane subzone, Italian for the hills around Teramo, was granted the DOCG status in 2003 and the quality or the wines from here is obtained thanks to the favorable microclimate and vicinity to the Adriatic Sea. An excellent 2007 vintage made it possible to create an equally good riserva made from careful selection of grapes, full-bodied and extremely fruity. It was aged in wood and for a few months in the bottle.

    Color: intense ruby red.
    Aroma: rich, complex, notes of cherry, red currant, cocoa, liquorice.
    Flavor: warm, soft, harmonious.
    Food matching: excellent with meat roasts, grilled meats.
    Serving temperature: 18°/20°C Before serving this wine should be decanted.

    A dry red wine of Montepulciano di Abruzzo grape with the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon. The name Cinque Colli signifying five hills is related to the zone of wine‘s origin, Controguerra. This zone consist of five towns in the province of Teramo win the northern part of the Abruzzo region. The riserva 2007 was aged for more than one year in wood and for a few months in the bottle. A blend of the local Montepulciano with Cabernet Sauvignon gives a robust wine, harmonious and warm.
